Our story

Two families,
one table

Elise comes from Italian roots. Ricardo comes from Mexican roots. Between them: two families who believe a table is never full, a pot is never too big, and nobody leaves hungry. This is the table we are building together.

Chapter 01

The roots

Nonna’s sauce on one side, abuela’s recipes on the other. Two loud, generous, food-first families that turned out to have far more in common than a love of garlic.

Chapter 02

The miles

Ricky has stepped outside for at least one mile every day since January 1, 2021. Ellie has finished two 50-mile ultramarathons and a 100-mile bike race. Yes, we are that couple.

The kitchen

Ellie is writing a cookbook. Ricky grew up on a soccer field and now grows up in her kitchen. Fresh pasta next to fresh tortillas is a normal Tuesday.

Ricky asked. Ellie said yes. It happened on the island of Santorini, Greece, above the caldera, with the whitewashed houses and blue domes doing what they do best. The rest of the story is for the dinner table.

  • 1 pasta roller, 1 tortilla press
  • 1 Santorini sunset
  • Garlic, to taste (a lot)

Method

  1. Combine both families. Do not strain.
  2. Fold in one mile a day, every day.
  3. Let rise over many Sunday dinners.
  4. Season with a proposal above the sea.
  5. Serve at a table with room for everyone.

About Ricky

One mile,
every day

Since January 1, 2021, Ricky has gone outside for at least one mile every single day. Rain, travel, holidays, hangovers. Then on December 26, 2025 he had ACL surgery, and the next morning he went out and walked the mile on crutches. He kept walking it on crutches until he could jog again. So it is no longer a running streak. It is a one-mile-a-day, outside, no-matter-what streak, and honestly that is the better story.

Writing a
cookbook

Ellie cooks the way some people breathe. Right now she is turning years of recipes, family notes, and Sunday experiments into an actual cookbook. If you have eaten at her table, you already know. If you have not, RSVP.

Ellie loves to travel. Ricky loves going wherever Ellie is going. The running list so far: Christ the Redeemer, Chichén Itzá and the Colosseum, which means one wonder for each side of the family and one for the two of us. The plan is all seven, eventually. The honeymoon fund below is not unrelated.

When and where is the wedding?

We are choosing a date and a venue now. As soon as it is locked in, it will appear at the top of this page and in the Details section, and everyone who has RSVP’d will hear from us directly.

Should I RSVP now if there is no date?

Yes, please. It helps us plan a table with the right number of chairs. You can always update your reply later; the latest one counts.

What should I wear?

To be announced with the venue. We will say this much: comfortable shoes, because there will be dancing.

Are kids welcome?

To be announced. We will confirm once we know the venue and the format of the day.

Can I bring a plus-one?

Formal invitations will name everyone in your party. If your invitation includes a guest, bring them. If you are not sure, just ask us.
